"Life is Precious" 2024
18"x24" cold pressed paper
Drawn at the Bristol Faire after the Memorial March in 2024, "Life is Precious" is a continuation of the tradition of the artist to process the grief the march invokes.
The winged figure is seen holding an orb of butterflies, with some scattered throughout the sunflowers and roses the figure lays upon intertwining in the hair, clothing, and wings.
"Shepard" 2024
12"x18" on cold pressed paper
Drawn opening day of the Bristol Renaissance Faire in 2024, "Shepard" was a personal challenge for the Artist.
A male figure is seen with his "sheep dog" dragon, in the grass. Hannah's challenge which turned out well was the scarf. Adding a rippling ribbon pattern that makes the piece catch a glimpse of something normal in the fantasy world.
"Just Enough Arms" 2024
11"x14" cold pressed paper
This mother believe it or not, was drawn at Bristol in 2023, but not completed until well into 2024. Hannah really wanted to capture the ripples of light through shallow waters. The effort into the effect paid off as this piece captures the care of finding a safe, warm reef bed for the littles.
"On Top of it All" 2024
12"x18" cold pressed paper
Hannah had the great desire in the Bristol 2024 season to put together the chaos that it is in being a mother, even in the fantasy realm. This fairy family has a joyous bunch of rascals. The oldest, simply watches on as the twins try a game of "catch me if you can" with momma, while the new baby just wants cuddles.
Oh the joys of being a mom.
"The Tree"
8"x10" cold pressed paper
The sketch of "The Tree" was done at the Bristol Faire 2023 season, but not completed till the end of 2024. Hannah took the sketch and transformed into a full-fledged watercolor with splashes of gouache.
It's becoming more frequent for the artist to step away from her pens.
There are more beautiful things to come from it...
"Kelpies"
12"x18" cold pressed paper
Hannah continues to drive herself to learn more lore and fantasy creatures. Kelpies are creatures of legends throughout many different places and people. Her challenge was to try a new technique.
There's little pen in this piece, and she didn't use green. The green that you see is either built on the paper from layers, AND a form of color illusion.
"Sprout"
Technically the first Woodgee to appear before the artist knew they were "Woodgees"
This lovely piece is untitled. It's the largest watercolor Hannah has completed to date taking over 120 hours to complete. It measures about three and a half feet by four and a half feet.
It won Best in Show in the Visions XXIV Juried Exhibition at the Riverfront Gallery Stevens Point, and has been featured at the Alumni Show at the Carlson Gallery UWSP.
Cascading Rainbow is a 9"x12" full watercolor illustration. There's no pen-work because recently Hannah has been challenging herself to take her work to the next level.
Rainbow was sketched at the Bristol Renaissance Faire in 2022, but Hannah opted to wait on finishing the piece until January-February of 2023.
"Holding Memory" was one of the first done at The Bristol Renaissance Faire in the 2023 season. Hannah draws LIVE in front of her shop and on the opening Sunday, the Trained Band of Bristol holds a Memorial March. It's historically accurate, but it honors real people of the show. Hannah can't help but create to process the grief and this painting is the result.
"Pink Roses" was drawn and completed during the 2023 season at The Bristol Renaissance Faire. This is a pinpoint to when Hannah started looking critically at her work with a fellow artist colleague and friend. It rekindled the passion in her craft, and her works from here definitely looks and feels different.
After the festival season came to a close in 2023, Hannah looked at her inventory of paintings and felt very disconnected from a number of works.
"A Phoenix and a Dragon" was originally an 8"x 10" piece that was finished in 2019. Being rather flat it didn't capture the intensity Hannah wanted it to have. So, she created this. A 16"x 20" intense, playful, and fiery dance.
"Roses and Gladiolus" is a full watercolor piece. This 18"x 12" piece was done to keep up the freedom from pen. Her previous watercolor only works from this year had no detail challenge. So, Hannah took the opportunity to challenge her patience and added floral details to the sketch. The rest is there to see.
